10 Things to do in the Lake District 2019
Here at Aphrodite’s Lodge, we’ve compiled a list of just some things to do in the Lake District 2019. Please note during 2020, visitors to the Lake District are advised to check local listings prior to booking a spa break in Windermere. Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, a number of things to do in the Lake District aren’t currently operating as normal.

Lake District Wedding Fair
23rd and 24th February. Why not book a romantic package break in the Lake District for Valentine’s day. Topped off with a wedding fair near Kendal.
Easter Egg Hunt
19th to 22nd April. While an Easter Spa break in the Lake District may sound very grown up, the addition of chocolate will bring out the child within. If you’re visiting friends or family, join one of several Cadbury’s Easter Egg Hunts across Cumbria.
Cumbria Sausage Festival
4th to 6th May. The annual Food and Drink Festival at Muncaster Castle celebrates all the traditional Cumbrian foods, set within the grounds of the popular castle.
Windermere Marathon
19th May. Taking place in Ambleside, the Windermere Marathon attracts runners across the globe. As such make sure you book your spa break in the Lake District in advance. Check the website for details on how to take part.
Cumberland County Show
15th June. This long-standing event takes place every year near Carlisle. Expect to find the best in show from local farmers, along with trade stands, craft stalls and a huge food store.
Coniston Country Fair
21st July. Another country show, this time in Coniston, ideal for those wishing to embark upon the Lakes. Combining popular arena displays, including dog shows and traditional Cumbrian Wrestling, there’s also the annual cross-country fell race.
Kendal Calling
25th to 28th July. While the line-up for Kendal Calling 2019 is yet to be announced, it keeps getting bigger and better. If you don’t fancy camping out in the fields for the whole of your festival weekend, take advantage of package breaks in the Lake District at Aphrodite’s Lodge.
Lake District Summer Music
27th July to 9th August. The international music festival takes place across a number of venues within the Lake District, largely focussing on classical and chamber music.
Lakes Alive Festival
6th to 8th September. Another multi-venue festival, with most locations at nearby Kendal. Which is just a short drive away from our Windermere Spa Hotel.
Windermere Christmas Market
8th December TBC. If you’re already thinking about booking a Christmas package break in the Lake District, then make sure you visit the Windermere Christmas Market. It’s certainly one of the festive highlights on the Cumbria Calendar.
