As well as a number of traditional events, Halloween in the Lake District is also a time for some light-hearted fun. Halloween is, in fact, a religious and spiritual celebration, in memory of those who have died over the years.

While church services and pagan festivals fall mostly on the 31st October, other events take place this Halloween in the Lake District throughout the week.

Halloween at Muncaster Castle

From the 23rd October to the 28th October, visitors can experience Halloween at Muncaster Castle. Believed to be on of the most haunted places in the Lake District, there’s fun for all the family. Ravenglass and Eskdale Ghost Trains

While the Ravenglass and Eskdale railway attracts tourists all year round, Halloween in the Lake District is something a little different. After all, you wouldn’t expect usual service when it comes to the perfect setting for a ghost train. Look out for special services running Friday 26th October and Saturday 27th October.

Ghostly Galleon with Ullswater Steamers

For one day only the famous Ullswater Steamers is transformed into the Ghostly Galleon. Although don’t be too afraid, your host “Stu Di Doo” is likely to keep things pre-watershed. The ghost ship is due to set sail on Saturday 27th October.

Halloween at the World of Beatrix Potter

Just down the road from our spa hotel in Windermere is one of Cumbria’s most popular attractions. The World of Beatrix Potter is home to Peter Rabbit, along with an insight into other works by the great author. Although you may be away on a spa break, there’s no reason why you can’t enjoy something a little child-friendly.

Lakeland Ghost Walks

There are a number of ghosts to be discovered in the Lake District National Park. In particular those in and around Windermere. Featuring everything from the haunting of Calgarth Hall, Gylpin’s wild boar and the alleged sightings of “Brownessie”.

However, for the ultimate ghost walk this Halloween in the Lake District, take a tour with Lakeland Hauntings. Whose team specialise in ghost walks within Keswick, Cockermouth and the surrounding areas.

Spa Hotels in the Lake District
